Amazon Handmade fee structure: commission, referral and net profit
We break down how the referral fee, professional plan and other costs affect net profit on Amazon Handmade.
The first requirement for selling profitably on Amazon Handmade is understanding the fee structure clearly. Pricing without accounting for the referral fee, plan cost and logistics can turn an attractive-looking sale into a loss.
Referral fee
Amazon Handmade charges roughly a 15% referral fee per sale. This is similar to standard Amazon categories, but since margin is more sensitive for handmade products, it must be handled carefully in pricing.
Professional seller plan
Handmade sellers are on the professional plan; however, a waiver of the monthly subscription fee can be requested specifically for Handmade. This is an important advantage for workshops starting at low volume.
Cost items table
| Item | Approx. Rate / Amount | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Referral fee | ~15% | On sale amount |
| Professional plan | Waiver possible | Handmade-specific |
| FBA fee | Varies by product | Optional |
| Ads (PPC) | Per ACOS target | Optional |
