Print-on-Demand (POD) — Definition

Global Commerce Marketplace

A sales model where products are printed and shipped only as orders come in, requiring no stock. The seller uploads a design; a provider like Printify or Printful handles printing and shipping. It's common for products like t-shirts, mugs, posters and phone cases. The advantage is zero stock and low startup cost; the downside is the net margin squeezed after print and shipping, and quality variability that depends on the supplier.
